The City and county lifeguards called upon us to help solve their need to have rescue boards at the life guard stations along Waikiki and Ala Moana Beaches. Working directly with the lifeguards, we were able to understand need to have a box that would fit varying board sizes and styles. The goal was to have boards at the stations in place rather than have them delivered to each guard tower and collected at the end of every day. Besides the labor resource of board transport, boards were continually damaged during the transport. The result: Long standing storage boxes that are holding up well; rescue boards that are on site and ready to go; a major reduction in damage to the boards; and man hours that are spent protecting our beach-going community rather than shuttling equipment.
